We had a good start yesterday! The students have moved in-and seem to be getting along well. Both parents and students handled the goodbyes fairly well, I thought! We had a nice dinner after move-in with some cool refreshing drinks (very necessary given the temperatures yesterday!).
Today I am meeting with the to review school rules and policies. I will also be starting my scientific research class-handing out the syllabus and letting the students know their assignments...
Tomorrow, the juniors will venture to UT to have their ID/swipe cards made. They will take a sack lunch and picnic at UT-along with a walking tour in the am. In the afternoon, the juniors will visit the UT library for a short tour and then an introduction to using the online data bases.
When the juniors return-we will start the Olympics-with opening round games in volleyball, soccer, and the hula-hoop relay...
Seniors will start class tomorrow-and are reading the book Seedfolks today. They will discuss it in class Monday and Tuesday. The plan is for them to create a college essay based on the theme of the book-then lead the juniors in a discussion later this month at Tremont.
It was nice meeting everyone yesterday-looking forward to a great year!
