On Saturday, TGA students took to the UT campus to protest funding cuts at TGA that will mean the end of a residential program as the state looks to regional, non-residential STEM schools.
TGA opened in 2007. Governor Phil Bredesen, based on his laboratory experiences that led to his completing a degree in physics, wanted TN high school students to have a similar opportunity. With a partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, students at TGA get an advanced math and science education with a hands on scientific research component.
